Ranking 1991 de la radio rock

En el año 1991 mientras que el mundo suscitaba hechos variados como la Invasión a Kuwait por Irak, La Guerra del Golfo con la rendición incondicional de Iraq ante USA, la Guerra de Yugoslavia, la cuenta regresiva para que Gorbachov dejara el Kremlin y la desaparición de la URSS, el fin del Apartheid en Sudáfrica, el cambio de mando de Reagan a Bush, en México uno de los eclipses totales de sol más duraderos de la historia... En el Perú el gobierno impone el estado de emergencia a causa de una epidemia de cólera que terminó en un paro armado convocado por Sendero Luminoso en mayo de ese año dejando una gran cantidad de muertos y heridos por los coches bomba que anunciaba una masacre se llevaría a cabo en Barrios Altos. En tanto que el secundario, para quienes cursabamos colegio estatal, que empezaba a mostrarse interesante con los primeros flirteos, se vio interrumpido con la decisión del SUTEP de abandonar las aulas en huelga general y adentrarse al paro indefinido de las clases desde el 8 de mayo al 23 de setiembre prolongando el año académico por primera vez hasta el verano del año siguiente, lo que conllevó a los afectados a realizar actividades que equipararan el desajuste, en algunos casos dedicarse más a los pasatiempos como a la música.

En lo musical, concretamente en el rock, en aquel 1991 sucedío, sea por un misterioso pacto silencioso o por solamente convergencias, hechos importantes mayores con respecto a los años alrededor. Se presentaban como vigentes géneros diversos, algunos olvidados otros esperados y hasta nuevas tendencias. Como si se estuviese trazando una linea divisoria entre eras, se alertaron los músicos a imprimir su firma en ese año que pareciera ser el limbo entre un principio y un final donde lograr lanzar una producción les hacía pertenecer a la época anterior y también a la siguiente.

En una apreciación general se puede ver desde nombres consagrados hasta debutantes que luego lograrían trascendencia haciendo del menú una enriquecida confusión de tendencias y etapas contextuales. El 24 de noviembre de ese año muere Freddie Mercury de bronconeumonía en Knightbridge al día siguiente de declarar que tenía sida, muerte que generaría despúes los apoteósicos conciertos en el estadio de Wembley en su memoria. El mismo dia muere de cancer Eric Carr baterista de Kiss por 11 años. También en ese año muere Miles Davis. El mismo año muere Connor, el hijo de Erick Clapton lo que le lleva al músico a componer Tears in heaven.

Un año cargado de buena música que hasta en la radio rock limeña el ranking anual de las 99 quedó corto:
